Murfreesboro has a population of 68,957. Once the state capitol
of Tennessee, Murfreesboro is located in the geographical center of Tennessee.
It is a few miles south of Nashville in Rutherford County, where it holds the
counties seat. It is the largest city in Rutherford County. The rich Southern

the Fortress Rosencrans to the Stone River National Battlefield to Cannonsburgh.

Medical Center serves the people of Murfreesboro and some of the other cities
in Rutherford County. Verizon Wireless is in the process of building a new
customer service call center which will open up several jobs in Murfreesboro.

Like nearby cities, La Vergne and Smyrna education is held in high standards
