Pegram is a 20-25 minute drive from downtown Nashville. The pride of the
town lies at the Pegram City Park. The park serves as a place for several
different sports, has a playground with recently purchased new equipment,
a picnic area, a stage area, for various performing programs, and are now
in the process of adding an ADA approved pathway as well as gardens, and
a walking path. Not only do people from Pegram enjoy this park that is located
in the heart of Pegram, but other residents throughout the greater Nashville
area enjoy the splendor of the outdoors in Pegram.
Thousands of residents in Cheatham County and the other counties within
the Nashville, Tennessee area flock to Pegram each year to enjoy the annual
fish fry and Independence Day celebration. The Pegram Community Club cooks
nearly 1,000 pounds of Tennessee River catfish each year at the annual fish
fry, while the Independence Day celebration features a parade, games, food,
music and fireworks. The Friends of Pegram Park is a nonprofit organization
that works to better the park for the community. They have earned thousands
of dollars to make the park what it is today.
The mayor of Pegram is Gene Hannah. He and a four-member board oversee the
city. Pegram has its own fire department. If the small town life is what
you seek then Pegram may just be the right town for you.
